Program Description
This one day seminar is designed to offer current information and important knowledge and skills for people who help expectant and new mothers. Ethics are an important for every working professional. This course will help clarify important ethical ramifications with regard to lactation. We will discuss procedures for using materials of intellectual property that are protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks and patents. You will learn what conflicts of interest are and how to avoid them. We will explore how ethics differ in different fields including IBCLCs, Peer Counselors, Nurses and Volunteers. We will bring it all together with an interactive discussion to help you bring it back to your workplace.

Location & Parking
Valley Presbyterian Hospital is located at 15107 Vanowen St., Van Nuys, CA. Park in the Noble parking structure on the corner of Noble and Vanowen. Parking all day is $6. The seminar will be in the Health Education Center, Main Auditorium.

Continuing Education Units
CEU, CPE and CERP credits will be offered at no additional charge. The Community Perinatal Network (CPN) is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing. This course offers 6 contact hours of continuing education. CPN’s provider number is CEP 14797. Licensee must maintain certificate for a period of four years. This course offers 5 E CERPs. CERP application will be submitted.

The Breastfeeding Task Force of Greater Los Angeles is dedicated to improving the health and well being of infants and families through education, outreach, and advocacy to promote and support breastfeeding. Babies in arms are welcome at all Task Force events.
